Restaurants

Formerly, the administration of the winery was in Trier, in the "Palais Kesselstatt", which is located across the cathedral and the Liebfrauen-Basilika at the beginning of the pedestrian area (see map). The baroque building houses two restaurants. The restaurants are not operated by the winery itself, but are independent. Nevertheless, they offer for you to enjoy our wines in a very pleasant atmosphere:

Here you have the opportunity to enjoy our wines and also purchase bottles to take home. Directions to the Restaurants in the Palais Kesselstatt

Starting from the Porta Nigra, walk to the main market and turn left towards the cathedral. Take a right turn in front of the cathedral, and after about 100m you find the entrances to the restaurant and the bar in a courtyard to your right. If you are coming from the Basilika please cross the Weberbachstrasse and walk down Konstantinstrasse towards the pedestrian area. Take a right at the Modehaus Marx which leads you into the Liebfrauenstrasse. After about 250m you will find the courtyard with the restaurants on your left just past the entrance gate to the Palais Kesselstatt.

Hotel - Restaurant Doctor-Weinstuben Willkommen, bienvenu, welcome to our historic house, named after the famous "Doctor Wine". The house was built as a tithe barn in 1668 by the Elector of Trier, Carl Caspar von der Leyen. In 1830 it was converted into a wine tavern and in 1974 upgraded to a hotel. Enjoy the charm of the centuries and at the same time let yourself be pampered by the comforts and conveniences of a modern hotel and restaurant. Past the medieval market place, along winding cobbled alleyways, and the road leads straight into the romantic courtyard of the Doctor Wine Tavern.

Weinstube Hofgut Kloster Machern In the wine bar of the demesne of Kloster Machern you can try out the wines from the Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt vineyard in a homely atmosphere. The estate lies opposite the wine-producing village of Zeltingen, right by the bridge. Here there is also a museum of viticulture, an antique shop and the liqueur cellar "Die Abtei" ("the Abbey") where you can fill your own bottles with a selection of the hundreds of liqueurs, brandies, vinegars and oils on sale direct from the cask. Kloster Machern The ancient walls of the monastery, which was founded in 1084 as an abbey of the Benedictine order, are a wonderful backdrop for private parties, weddings and christenings with up to 350 guests. You can get married in the chappelle of the monastery and the beautiful baroque hall provides a fitting venue for the subsequent celebrations. We invite you to lunch or dine (competitively priced buffet and menus), have coffee and gateaux or relax in historical surroundings after an eventful day sightseeing on the Moselle. The terrace with seating for 100 and the self-service "Biergarten" with space for 500 in the open air entice you to linger. With one of the moderately priced, excellent regional dishes and a glass (or perhaps two) of beer, brewed on the premises, it's easy to forget time in this wonderful setting on the banks of the Moselle. And a guided tour of the brewery followed by a sampling of the product is a must for every beer fan (notification in advance is necessary)! And we don't neglect our younger guests either: a playground with an area of over 8500 square feet and a museum of dolls and toys offer your children ample opportunity to enjoy themselves.
